Phase Code
The Phase Code is used in the opportunity page, it specifies the current progress level of an opportunity, e.g. if a potential customer has been called and they are interested, you can move them from an initial contact phase code to interested/demo phase code, this helps you get a gist of where potential new customers are.

When creating an opportunity in the opportunity window, the Phase code is a mandatory field that you must fill out, to do so you can either type in the phase code you want to use and select it, or you can simply pick it from the drop down list.

You can view a list of all the Phase codes on the system by navigating to the codes option in the settings window, then select the “phase” option to view this list. You can also edit any of these codes by clicking the “pencil” button to the right of the code. this will allow you to edit both the “Code” and “Description” fields for the code you've selected.
Once you have made any changes you can click the “tick” icon to the right of the code to save the changes you've made, or you can click the “Cancel” icon if you do not want to make those changes.

To add a new phase code, while on the phase code settings click the “Add New Phase” button, a new row will be added with blank “code” and “description” fields that you will be required to fill in.
The “Code” Field will need to be filled in with an abbreviation of the full phase name e.g. “Demonstration needed” can be shortened to “DEMO” in the code Field. The Description field is where you'll put the full name of the new phase code e.g. “Demonstration Needed”.
To then save the new phase code, all you need to do is click the “Tick” option to the right of the code, you will then be able to select the ne phase code next time you need to add an opportunity or update an existing one.
